Spelling words for week of April 7-11.

Dear parents,

We are back to normal next week with regards to Spelling, Grammar, and Theme Reading.

Our Spelling words are words that contain "igh". They are high, sigh, thigh, night, sight, fight, right, light, tight, might, bright, flight, tonight, frighten, and  lightning.

Our Theme Reading is about the use of neon lights in advertising. Our content words are: method, unexpected, images, spellbound, marvel, transform, reveals, possibility, artistic, and impress.

Next Friday, April 11th, we have a Fun Lunch. It is Sushi Day!! Also, it is Family Movie Night at Queensbury. Reservation forms went home with your child on Wednesday. It is a free evening, but your family does need to register. Please note that children must be accompanied by a supervising adult. One parent can supervise up to 4 children.

Our worm farm is thriving. Table 1 fed the worms today. Each table group will eventually get a chance to feed the worms.

Have a great weekend everyone.

Best wishes,

Mrs. Gerri Karr and Miss Gardiner

Yeah!!

Dear parents,

It doesn't take much to brighten my day! Thank you Samantha and Lily for a basketful of sharpened pencils! This should last us for at least two weeks, right?

Best wishes,

Mrs. Gerri Karr

Wednesday goings-on

Dear parents,

I'm not sure if that is even a phrase any longer, but it seemed appropriate.

The children began their second novel study called "How to Eat Fried Worms" today. We hope it doesn't give them any ideas. It's a super novel which I'm sure the children will enjoy. Miss Gardiner has prepared a lot of fun activities for this study.

We visited Miss Hoodspith's class to view their pioneer village and to hear the students describe their building. Our students were very appreciative listeners.

Mrs. Evans will begin her third term unit in a Fine Arts with our students. Every Thursday until Gymnastics starts in May, she will be doing Dance in the gym with our class from 10:40-11:20.

The class added to our worm farm today by collecting twigs and leaves from Kealy Woods Park, adjacent to our school grounds.

Fun Lunch order forms came home today along with an offer for a FREE movie night. Make sure to check your child's back pack. Our Parent Council makes a lot of money from the Fun Lunch program, so I'm hopeful you support this. I do, and the food is delicious!!

Thanks to Nodin's mom, Lisa, for more great pics from our Heritage Village field trip.

Best wishes,

Mrs. Gerri Karr

Heritage Village Field Trip

Dear parents,

Wow! What a super day! The weather cooperated giving us a beautiful sunny day. Our museum teachers were absolutely wonderful and very dedicated to working at the museum.

In between sessions we had fun rolling down hills, getting piggy backs and playing our tag game called "Mayhem"!

Thank you to our parent drivers! We couldn't do this without you!

Best wishes,

Mrs. Gerri Karr

First week back

Dear parents,

I hope you are all enjoying the two week Spring Break from school. Just a reminder that we return next Monday, March 31st.

We won't be doing regular Spelling or Theme Reading this first week back as we will be doing some wrap up work related to Outdoor School and going on our Burnaby Heritage Village field trip all day on Tuesday, April 1st.

For Tuesday's field trip please make sure your child is dressed for the weather. They will need to eat a nutritious lunch as they will be walking a lot. Please do not pack candy and pop. Your children are energetic enough without this in their diet. We will be leaving the school at approximately 9:15. I'd like our volunteer drivers to be at the school by 9:00 so I can go over student expectations with them in attendance. Thank you to all parent volunteers for offering to drive. I know filling out all that paperwork is NOT fun.

I'm looking forward to seeing your children again next Monday.

Best wishes,

Mrs. Gerri Karr
